Growthpoint Properties Sundowner 10km

The circular route for the Sundowner 10km Run-Walk starts at the V&A Waterfront behind the Table Bay Hotel. The runners then follow the Mouille Point and Sea Point Promenade, chasing the sunset,  with a turnaround point just after the Sea Point swimming pools finishing at the V&A Waterfront.

10km Run

Start Venue: V&A Waterfront, between the back of the Table Bay Hotel at the Helipad.

Date: 18th December 2019

10km: 18h15

Cut off: 120 minutes – 20h15

Social walkers are welcome to enter the 10km run. Walkers to start at the back and to keep to the side of the road.

Prize Giving

Prize giving will commence at approximately 20h00 at the Amphitheatre.

ASA & WPA

The Growthpoint Properties Sundowner is run in accordance with the rules of ASA and WPA.

Detailed rules are available on www.wpa.org.za or on request from the organisers or the WPA office.

Indemnity

Participants take part at their own risk and the organisers, sponsors and WPA will not be held responsible for any accident or injury resulting from the athletes participation.

Runners must obey traffic officers, race marshals and race officials at all times.

Age Limits

The race is open to all license and non-licenced runners of 14 years and older on race day.

Licenced Runners

Licensed runners should run in club colours and a licence valid for 2019 must be worn on the front and back of the vest or purchase a temporary license to be worn on the front of the vest

Unlicenced Runners

Temporary Licensed runners to wear plain clothing, no advertising.

Temporary licensed participants are eligible for age category prizes, provided they enter the relevant age group, wear the appropriate age tags and provide proof of page.

Personal Seconding

No personal seconding permitted.

Category Prizes

In addition to overall (Open) prizes, participants will only be eligible for an age category prize in the age category they enter. Corresponding numerical age category tags must be worn on the front and back of their club vest. Participants may enter the age category corresponding to their chronological age or any younger category up to senior.

Proof of age is required for category prizes.

Juniors (born from 2000 or later) wearing a junior or a senior licence must wear an age category tag to qualify for age group prizes.

Race Numbers

No Race numbers will be issued. All registered athletes must wear two valid licence numbers. Unregistered participants must purchase a Temporary Licence which must be worn on the front of the vest.

Race Cards

Ensure that your club name and licence number are filled in on your entry card.
Entry race cards must be in athletes possession at all times during the race, and handed in at the results board at the Finish.

Traffic Officers & Marshals

All traffic officers and marshals must be obeyed at all times.

Foreign Athletes

Foreign athletes must comply with IAAF rule 4.2 and all relevant race and domestic rules. The athletes must be able to produce the letter from his/her
federation permitting participation on race day.

Refreshment Stations

Two refreshment station providing water will be available on the route and Coca – Cola at the finish.

Tog Bag Facilities

Tog bag facilities will be available at own risk.

Prize Giving

Prize giving will commence at approximately 20h00 at the Amphitheatre.

Music Players

The use of music players with headphones is not allowed and may result in disqualification.

Littering

Do not litter. Dispose of sachets and cups responsibility by using the boxes provided or carrying them to the finish. Report offenders to the referees. #RunClean

Results

Results will be available on www.wpa.org.za or www.topevents.co.za

General

The Time limit is 120 minutes.

Wheelchair athletes must please contact the organizers timeously to discuss arrangements for their participation.

Kilometre markers will be place at each kilometre mark.

Toilets will be available.

Entry fees are non – refundable.

Please move swiftly through the finish area to avoid congestion.

  • RACE DAY: Entries will be taken on race day from 15h00 – Jetty 1 outside the Robben Island Museum Jetty 1.
  • PRE-ENTRIES: Collect your race card on Wednesday 18th December 2019 from 15h00 outside the Robben Island Museum Jetty 1. Please bring your proof of entry with you to registration.

Registration for online entrants will take place on the 18th December 2019 (on race day) from 15h00 outside the Robben Island Museum Jetty 1, close to the Table Bay Hotel.

Registration for online entrants can be done at the Pinelands Clubhouse on SATURDAY 3 August 2019 from 4pm – 6pm.
