ASA & WPA

The race is run in accordance with the rules of ASA and WPA.

Detailed rules are available on www.wpa.org.za or on request from the organisers of the WPA office.

AGE LIMIT

Minimum age in the 10km is 14 years.

INDEMNITY

Participants in this event do so at their own risk and release and discharge the organisers, sponsors, provincial and national athletics bodies and all persons assisting in staging the event from any responsibility, liability or costs relating to any injury, loss or damage of whatever nature, however caused, arising directly or indirectly from their participation in the event.

LICENSED RUNNERS

Runners must obey traffic officers, race marshals and race officials at all times.

Licensed runners should run in club colours and a license valid for 2019 must be worn on the front and back of the vest or purchase a temporary license to be worn on the back of the vest. One race number (bib) will be issued. The race number must be worn on the front of the vest, partially covering the ASA license, so that the ASA licence sponsor remains visible.

No personal seconding permitted except at official refreshment stations.

TEMPORARY LICENSED RUNNERS

Temporary License holders when registering must complete and hand in the tear off strip from the number in order to be eligible to compete. Temporary licensed runners to wear plain clothing, no advertising. Temporary licensed runners must wear the race number on the front of their vest and the temporary license on the back.

PERSONAL SECONDING

No personal seconding permitted except at official refreshment stations.

AGE CATEGORY PRIZES

In addition to Overall (Open) prizes, participants will only be eligible for an age category prize in the age category they enter. Corresponding numerical age category tags must be worn on the front and back of their Club vest. Participants may enter the age category corresponding to their chronological age or any younger category down to senior.

Temporary licensed participants are eligible for age category prizes provided they enter the relevant age group, wear the appropriate age tags and provide proof of age

To qualify for team prizes, athletes must wear full club colours and participate with a permanent license.

Age category tags must be worn (front and back) and visible for the entire race to be eligible for any age category prize.

RACE NUMBERS / RACE CARDS

Race cards need to be completed before race day, must be carried during the race and handed in once you have completed your race.

Runners must carry their entry cards for the duration of the race.

No swopping of  race cards as it is linked to your name and finishing time and may result in disqualification.

TOG BAGS

Tog bag facilities will be provided at own risk.

MUSIC PLAYERS

For safety reasons the use of personal music players with headphones is not allowed. Use of such device in contravention of IAAF rule 144.3b, may result in disqualification.

RUN CLEAN

Do not litter. Dispose of sachets and cups responsibly by using the boxes provided or carrying them to the Finish. Report offenders to the referees.

TRAFFIC OFFICERS & MARSHALS

All traffic officers and marshals must be obeyed.

FOREIGN ATHLETES

Foreign athletes must comply with IAAF rule 4.2 and all relevant race and domestic rules. The athletes must be able to produce the letter from his/her federation permitting participation on race day.

• Bulk entry collections will take place at the Spar DC in Philippi only on Wednesday 22nd May 11:00 – 18:00.

The Group entry system works as follows:

You let us know how many entries you need in the respective distances, what your company name is and provide us with your invoicing details.

We will then send you the invoice for your entries.

Once payment of invoice is made, we will forward you the voucher codes to be used for these entries.

They then enter themselves through our online entry site using the voucher code they have been given.

Kindly notify your entrants that all details and tick boxes need to be completed in order for their entry to be submitted successfully.

They must click on the apply voucher button when using the voucher and make sure that the voucher code has been applied correctly (the amount will be R0.00)

It is compulsory that all group entries be collected by one person at the date, time and venue notified to you by us. Please communicate this to all your entrants’ pre-event.

The closing date for entries is the 8th May 2019.

 Please note we only accept group entries with 10 or more people.

No late entries will be accepted after the group entries closing date.

 Kindly note that there are no refunds on any unused vouchers/entries.

3 Tons of Fun

3 Tons of Fun have emerged over the last 8 years as one of Cape Town’s most loved all-female groups. They are in great demand on the corporate circuit throughout South Africa and have performed at functions for top companies including amongst others Standard Bank, Ernst & Young, BOE, Sanlam, Transnet, Bidvest, Pick n Pay, Rabie Properties, IBM and Ericsson as well as at many prestigious events at the Arabella Sheraton Hotel, Kelvin Grove, and at Evita Bezuidenhout’s 80th birthday party in 2005.

BULELWA SAKAYI (mezzo soprano) comes from a classical music and theatre background having performed in numerous television, film and stage productions including the local film ‘E Carmen’ which received critical acclaim internationally.

MICHELLE THOMAS (alto) hails from Cape Town and has been involved in numerous musical productions including ‘Music Active’ at the Baxter Theatre.

STHE MFUPHI (alto and mezzo) has a diploma in light jazz, plays keyboards and drums, does musical arrangements and compositions, and is well known on the Cape Town jazz circuit, having performed at numerous jazz venues including ‘Mannenberg Jazz Café’.
