  1. This is a pre-entry race only. Enter online at www.topevents.co.za until midnight 23rd January 2022.
  2. Please note that you will need to wear your mask at all times including at number collection, start area, fill up station and finish area. During the race you may remove your mask but must carry it with you at all times.
  3. All entrants to collect their race number in person due to COVID-19.
  4. No club gazebos are permitted.
  5. Cut-off time is 2 hours 30 minutes.
  6. No spectators are allowed at the event.
  7. There will be NO tog bag facility.

  9. Unlicensed athletes R210 includes a temporary license and timing chip. 5Km entry fee is R90.00 including timing chip.
  10. Race cancellation: Should the race need to be cancelled, you may opt to take part in a virtual run and 50% of your entry fee will be refunded. If you do not want to take part in a virtual run, 70% of your fee will be refunded.
  11. An Email will be sent to you 3 days prior to the event with a link where you will complete your Covid-19 screening form. Please note that if this form is not complete before race day you will not be allowed to participate in the event.
  12. NO gathering at the finish area once you have completed the event.
  13. PLEASE BE COVID 19 COMPLIANT AT ALL TIMES
  14. Discovery Vitality will be allocating Vitality Points to entrants based on a certified finishing time, namely 600 Vitality Points for the 15km and 300 Vitality Points for the 5Km.
  1. The race is run according to the rules of ASA & WPA.
  2. Runners must obey traffic officers, race marshals, race officials and the COVID-19 Officer at all times.
  3. Nobody under the age of 15 years may participate in the 15 km race
  4. No personal seconding permitted.
  5. The time limit is 2 hours 30 minutes.
  6. Licensed runners should run in club colours and a license valid for 2022 must be worn on the front and back of the vest. Unlicenced runners must purchase a temporary license which is to be worn on the front of the vest. Temporary license holders, when collecting their numbers, must complete and hand in the tear-off strip from the number in order to be eligible to participate.
  7. Age category tags must be worn (front and back) and visible for the entire race to be eligible for any age category prize including Juniors.
  8. Temporary licensed runners to wear plain clothing, no advertising.
  9. The use of music players with headphones is not allowed and may result in disqualification.
  10. Do not litter. Dispose of any refuse or cups responsibly using the boxes provided or carry them to the finish. Report offenders to the referees.
  11. There will be two water refill stations where cups will be provided. Coca-Cola and water will be available at the end. Water will NOT be provided in sachets.
  12. Participants in this event do so at their own risk and release and discharge the organisers, sponsors, provincial and national Athletics bodies and all persons assisting in staging the event from any responsibility, liability or costs relating to any injury, loss or damage of whatever nature, however caused, arising directly or indirectly from their participation in the event.

PRIZE GIVING AND PRIZES

  1. Prize giving: there will be no formal prize giving.
  2. In addition to Overall (Open) prizes, participants will only be eligible for an age category prize in the age category they enter.
  3. Corresponding numerical age category tags must be worn on the front and back of their Club vest. Participants may enter the age category corresponding to their chronological age or any younger category down to senior.
  4. Temporary licensed participants are eligible for age category prizes provided they enter the relevant age group, wear the appropriate age tags and provide proof of age.
  5. Juniors born 2003 or after, must display age tags “J” to qualify for age group prizes.

TOP EVENTS COMPULSORY DISPOSABLE TIMING CHIP:

Your Timing chip has been placed on the front of your race number. The race number must be worn on the front of your vest and visible at the finish line.

There is a foam backing on the back of the race number. Please do not remove the timing chip and foam strip from the race number – doing so will result in NO finish time. The event will be timed from mat to mat.

There will be batch starts of +/- 200 entrants per batch.

All potential prizewinners / Elite Runners MALE and FEMALE combined will start in the front – namely BATCH A

The results from this A group will be done on a “GUN to FINISH MAT “basis.

The WPA referees will in addition to the electronic finish times, also monitor and produce these results manually, for the specific age categories.

There will also be 6 additional BATCHES of 250 people each Non Elite Runners – namely BATCHES   B / C / D / E / F / G / H.

This will total a maximum of 1500 people of all running levels – no seeding system.

There results will be electronically produced on race day by the official chip timing system.

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has established the Cape Academy of Mathematics, Science and Technology in Cape Town to
provide specialised schooling for learners with the potential to excel in these subjects in the Senior Certificate examinations. The Academy accepts
both day learners and boarders, and is situated in attractive surroundings in Firgrove Road, Constantia, Cape Town. The Academy draws learners
from all communities, with an emphasis on those from previously disadvantaged communities. While focusing on mathematics and science-related
subjects, the Academy offers a full range of matriculation subjects. The school started in 2004 with learners in Grade 10. The Academy forms part
of a broad WCED Mathematics and Science Strategy to improve results in these subjects throughout the province. The school seeks to increase the
number of Senior Certificate candidates passing mathematics and science on the higher grade.

6. Only one entry will be permitted per member and a member can only win once.
7. After the closing date, the winner will be selected through a random draw. The winner will be contacted at least two weeks after the event and their prize will be delivered at least three weeks after the event.
8. The promoter/s will attempt to contact or notify the winner by either telephone, email or both. Should the prize not be claimed within 30 calendar days the prize/s will be forfeited and a new winner chosen.
9. The promoter/s retains full discretion to choose the winners. The decision is final and cannot
be contested.

16. If required as a result of legislation or other legal reasons, the promoters reserve the right to terminate this competition immediately. In the event of such termination, all participants agree to waive any rights that they may have in terms of this offer and acknowledge that they will have no recourse against the promoters or their agents.
17. The promoters do not take any responsibility and shall not be held liable for any loss, injury or damage of any nature caused as a result of the participants’ use of the abovementioned prize.

The purpose of these terms and conditions are to govern Vitality members and their engagement in
the Western Cape Vitality Run Series from 5 February to 21 March 2022.
1. Definitions In these terms and conditions, the terms below have the following meanings:
1.1. “Applicable Laws” means all national, provincial, local and municipal legislation, regulations, statutes, by-laws, consents and/or other laws of any relevant governmental authority and any other instrument having the force of law that may be issued and in force from time to time with regard to or in connection with the activities contemplated under these terms.
1.2. “Discovery Platforms” means the set of related web pages under the Discovery domain, including but not limited to the Discovery website, any Vitality page or related content on the Discovery website, the Discovery App and/or official Discovery social media platforms.
1.3. “Discovery Vitality, We, Us” means Discovery Vitality (Pty) Limited bearing Registration Number 1999/007736/07, a company duly registered and incorporated in accordance with
the company laws of the Republic of South Africa.
1.4. “Discovery” means Discovery Limited with Registration Number 1999/07789/06, a public company duly registered and incorporated in terms of the company laws of the Republic
South Africa and its subsidiaries;
1.5. “Personal Information” has the meaning ascribed to it under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 or 2013;
1.6. “You, Your” refers to the Main Member of the Vitality membership, unless indicateddifferently;
1.7. “Event Timing” refers to Finish Time, a private company duly registered and incorporated in accordance with the company laws of the Republic of South Africa;
1.8. “Vitality Programme” the programme that Discovery Vitality markets, operates and manages a programme for the benefit of Vitality Members, the rules and benefits of which may change from time to time
1.9. “Vitality Member” means Participants of the Vitality Programme, which includes spouse dependants, adult dependants, and child dependants over the age of 18 (eighteen) and
excludes child dependants under 18 (eighteen) years, who are bound by the rules, which may change from time.

2.2. Anyone within the country may participate in the Western Cape Vitality Run Series. Vitality members will earn 600 Vitality points for completing a 10km or 15km run Members will also receive an additional 500 booster points. The maximum number of points a member can earn per run series event will be 1100 points.
2.3. The terms of the Western Cape Vitality Run Series do not apply to any dependants under the age of 18 (eighteen) years as they are not eligible to take part in this event.
2.4. In order to qualify for Vitality points, participants will have to complete the race.
2.5.By registering for the event, you accept the terms and conditions and You acknowledge and consent that Your data (name, surname, ID number or passport number and email address) will be shared with Discovery Vitality and authorised third parties for purposes of awarding points.
2.6.Over and above the entry cost, usage of mobile fitness tracking and Discovery applications may be subject to data charges as determined by your mobile service provider.
2.7.By participating in the Western Cape Vitality Run Series, you agree to the limits, terms and conditions that Discovery Vitality, our partner network and third parties associated with the programme may share your Personal Information for purposes of administering the benefit, which includes but is not limited to the awarding of points.

2.8. You acknowledge that it is Your responsibility to consult a healthcare provider before engaging in this event in respect of Your past or present injury, illness, health problems or any conditions or medication that may affect Your participation in the programme at any point in time.
2.9. You warrant that the relevant medical checks have been completed and that there are no medical restrictions to Your engagement in the Western Cape Vitality Run Series events.
2.10. Vitality Members acknowledge this is a Vitality event and Vitality Member’s data will be used towards points allocation, and your data will flow via Event Timing towards this purpose. This is according to the Vitality Main rules.
2.11. Any Personal Information relating to the participants will be used in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPI”).
3. Engagement
3.1.1. If two fitness activities are completed in one day, then the higher points between the two will be awarded. The maximum amount of points awarded for fitness activity per day is 300 Vitality points. If a member earns 300 Vitality points from their fitness device, and complete the event on the same day, the member will only be awarded the higher points between the two activities. The higher points being for the Vitality Run Series event as members can earn a maximum of 1100 Vitality points.

4. By participating in the Western Cape Vitality Run Series, you warrant that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, as well as the Vitality Main Rules and Vitality’s Privacy Statement as they may be amended, updated or revised from time to time. Any transgressions of the rules of the Western Cape Vitality Run Series by You shall be subject to the conditions as set out in the Vitality main rules or the Main Rules governing ancillary programmes, whichever is applicable to you.
5. Discovery Vitality encourages honest and accurate logging of workout sessions and will conduct random audits to check the validity of the events that Members log. It is your duty to ensure that your engagement in the Western Cape Vitality Run Series is free from any fraudulent activity.
6. By selecting to participate in the Western Cape Vitality Run Series, you accept the terms and conditions governing your participation in the Western Cape Vitality Run Series and indemnify Discovery Vitality, its holding company, subsidiaries, any of its affiliated and/or constituent bodies, and directorates and or/or any representative, employee, servant or agent of the a foregoing bodies or persons against any claim whatsoever and howsoever arising which may be made against them or any of them by any person and/or against any liability which may be incurred by you and/or any damage arising directly or indirectly out of any act or omission of any nature whatsoever, whether negligent or otherwise (including

8. Data costs may apply as a result of engagement in the Western Cape Vitality Run Series. Discovery Vitality shall not be liable for any data costs that may associated with your
engagement in the Western Cape Vitality Run Series as well as your internet connection, this remains the responsibility of the Member.
9. The following will apply to member’s engagement in the Western Cape Vitality Run Series:

11. All activities done in conjunction with or as a result of the Western Cape Vitality Run Series are done voluntarily and solely at your own risk. Discovery Vitality shall not be liable for any injuries, damages or health problems that may arise as a result of any information, products or services obtained from all communications including, without limitation, workouts, training programmes or information.
12. All content provided through Vitality, including all text, communication, photographs, images, illustrations, graphics, audio, video and audio-video clips, and other materials, whether provided by us or by other users or third parties is not intended to be and should not be used in place of (a) the advice of your physician or other medical professionals, (b) a visit, call or consultation with your physician or other medical professionals, or (c) information contained on or in any product packaging or label. Should you have any health-related questions, please call or see your physician or other healthcare provider promptly. Should you have an emergency, call your physician immediately. You should never disregard medical advice or delay in seeking medical advice because of any content presented on the Discovery Platforms and you should not use the Discovery Platforms or any content on the Discovery Platforms for diagnosing or treating a health problem. The transmission and receipt of any content, in whole or in part, or communication via the internet, e-mail or other means does not constitute or create a doctor-patient, therapist-patient or other healthcare professional relationship.
13. You expressly agree that we do not assume responsibility for the inspection, supervision, preparation, or conduct of any contest, athletic activity or event that involves a Vitality benefit.
14. You expressly agree to release Discovery Vitality and Discovery (the “released parties”) from any and all liability connected and understand that under no circumstances will Discovery Vitality and/or Discovery be liable for any injury or damages, including consequential or indirect damages or for any delictual liability of any nature whatsoever suffered by you as a consequence of your participation in the Western Cape Vitality Run Series which is inclusive, but not limited to your physical activities. You also agree that in no event shall the released parties be liable to you or any third party for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special or
