The Landmarks in Proud Association with SANParks

The 21.1km route of the The Landmarks Half Marathon in Proud Association with SANParks offers a challenging and scenic route past key landmarks in the Southern Suburbs, incorporating heritage sites, world-class sporting facilities, and the tranquil surrounds of Western Province Cricket Club, Sports Centre where the race starts and finishes. Some of the landmarks include: Rondebosch Common, Mosterts Mill, University of Cape Town, Rhodes Memorial, Newlands Forest, Josephine Mill, Newlands Brewery, Newlands Rugby Stadium and Sahara Park.The Mariendahl Brew House in Newlands has been chosen as the Landmark for 2019 and is represented on the Half Marathon Medal

Prize Giving

1. Prize giving will take place at 09:15 where category winners will receive their prizes followed by the lucky draws.
2. Participants must be present with their race number to claim prizes in the lucky draw.

ASA & WPA

The Landmarks in Proud Association with SANParks is run in accordance with the rules of ASA and WPA.

Age Limit

The event is open to all licenced and non-licenced runners of 16 years and older for the Half Marathon and 9 years or older for the 6km

Licenced Runners

Licenced runners should wear club colours. Official event race number to be worn on the front. Registered athletes must wear their ASA licences on the front and back of their vest. The race number must be worn on the front of the vest, partially covering the ASA licence, so that the ASA licence sponsor remains visible. Temporary licenced runners must wear the race number on the front of their vest and the temporary licence on the back.

Temporary Licenced Runners

Temporary licences are available at R60 for the 21.1km and R40 for the 10km event and R25 for a 10km Junior.

Temporary licenced participants are eligible for age category prizes provided they enter the relevant age group, wear the appropriate age tags and provide proof of age.

Unlicenced runners must wear plain clothes (no advertising permitted). Official event race number to be worn on the front and the temporary licence number on the back.

Personal Seconding

Personal seconding is not permitted, except at official refreshment stations. Private vehicles are requested not to follow the athletes on the route.

Age Category Prizes

In addition to overall (Open) prizes, participants will only be eligible for an age category prize in the age category they enter. Corresponding numerical age category tags must be worn on the front and back of their club vest. Participants may enter the age category corresponding to their chronological age or any younger category down to senior.

Athletes competing for a category prize must wear age category tags (on the front and the back).

No swopping of race numbers or disposable chips as these are linked to your name and finishing time and may result in your disqualification.

Juniors (born from 2000 onward) wearing junior or senior license must wear an age category tag to qualify for age group prizes. Juniors will be eligible for OPEN individual and team prizes.

Club colours must be worn to qualify for team prizes.

Race Cards

Entry cards must be in the athletes possession during the race and handed in at the results board at the finish

Foreign Athletes

Foreign athletes must comply with IAAF rule 4.2 and all relevant race and domestic rules. If required the athlete must be able to produce a letter from his/her federation permitting participation on race day.

Route

Kilometre markers will be placed at each kilometre mark.

Refreshments stations will be situated approximately every 3km.

Toilets will be available at the start and finish.

Parking is available at the finish.

Tog Bags

There will be tog bag facilities. Bags dropped off at runners’ own risk. The organiser will be not be held responsible for any loss or damages.

Prize Giving

Prize giving will take place at 09h15.

Results will be available on www.wpa.org.za

General

All Traffic officers and marshals must be obeyed.

Proof of of age is required for category prizes.

Entry fees are non-refundable.

Parking is available.

For safety reasons the use of personal music players with headphones is not allowed. Use of such device in contravention of IAAF rule 144.3b may be disqualified and will not be eligible for individual or team prizes.

Temporary license holders when registering must complete and hand in the tear off strip from the number in order to be eligible to compete.

Do not litter. Dispose of sachets and cups responsibly by using the boxes provided or carrying them to the Finish. Report offenders to the referees. #RunClean.

2. IN STORE ENTRIES
Hand deliver your entry form and cash to a cashier in any of the Sportsmans Warehouse stores listed below. You will receive two till slips, one to be stapled onto your entry form and the other serves as proof of your entry. Please bring this with you to number collection. Closing date for in-store entries is Sunday 20th October 2019
